Project extended
The SDNP Guyana project has been funded by UNDP for 1999. During this year moves will be made towards becoming financially self-sustaining.

Our lines get busy!
Our 100+ clients are now using the service more. As a result it is sometimes difficult to connect. We apologise for this. We have also had problems with a few of our lines which has not helped. We are now looking at ways to improve the level of service.

Steering Committee news
At its last meeting the Committee agreed on steps to contract a legal expert to work on options for the legal establishment of SDNP. It also is working on a notice advertising the position of coordinator which will be vacant from April.

New pages
The web site for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now public. The site for the University of Guyana will be public very soon.

Advice to users
If you are missing email please contact us - it may mean your password is no secret any more and it needs to be changed. Do not share your password with anyone.
If you often start to connect but it fails to complete it may mean your line has a fault or the settings have been changed on your PC.
Check our Help Page for useful advice.

GT&T
GT&T has upgraded their satellite link to a T1 - in other words a larger connection. It seems however that a larger link is needed again. Later this year Guyana is scheduled to get a optical fiber cable connection from the Americas II project via Surinam. This should greatly improve the situation and the satellite link may no longer be used.
